Art as meditation was born fall of 2017 when paid painting projects had slowed down and it dawned on me that I can, like in my youth, make art for my personal pleasure. I was guided toward ink, brush and paper at my candle lit table to let me subconscious non judgmental mind lead and create. I had stumbled upon a forgotten “essential nature” and it felt amazing and meditative. It was liberating to be creative without the stress or expectations of payment, deadlines or clients. I was hooked on the feeling of space, process, peace, revelation and calm that I found through this unattached method of creating. I found a meditation practice that worked for me. By following my intuition, a little magic occurred, painting commissions and doula work re entered my life. I let go of a little fear.
I have been on a spiritual journey, attracted to a spiritual experience for some time, but usually guided by others. With my practice I found a way to connect with my guides, spirit and self. As my relationship with my meditation practice grew I wanted to document the evolution for a period of time. My goal is to commit to a daily, art meditation practice. Through the process I am learning about myself and about mystical and spiritual traditions that I am attracted to.
Art as meditation has given me a tool to visualize, celebrate, honor, witness, hold, process and see my truths and goals. I hope to find a way to share my experience with others to heal and bond with their journey.
